Based on the unified modeling language(UML)and the polychromatic sets(PS)theory

a workflow organizational resource model and a formal allocation approach are presented. A UML class diagram model of workflow organizational resource is established

which includes departments and workgroups. Together with a manufacturing enterprise workflow process

the organizational resource model is instantiated and the UML object diagram model of workflow organizational resource is constructed. Following PS theory

the UML class diagram model and the object diagram model of workflow organizational resource are formalized and the PS hierarchical structure models are proposed. By reasoning the PS contour matrix

the organizational resources are allocated formally to the activities of the enterprise workflow process

the organizational resources of the workflow activities are described in the form of PS entities

and the workflow organizational resource model and the workflow process model are connected appropriately.
