A new method for gas-liquid two-phase flow distribution
the phase separation method
was proposed. This method can convert two-phase flow distribution into single-phase feed in the distribution process of two-phase flow
and ensure an equal quality distribution. First
the mixture of gas and liquid is separated into single or near single phase fluids by enhancing phase splitting in a distributor. Second
the single gas and liquid flow are fed as required with liquid and gas mass flow rate meters
respectively. Third
each couple of gas stream and liquid stream is recombined in a branch. Experiments were conducted in an air-water multiphase flow test loop. The flow patterns in the experiments included stratified flow
wavy flow
slug flow and a part of annular flow. The experimental results show that the present phase separation method and apparatus could be feasible to complete equal quality distribution and the deviation of stream quality in different branches was less than 1.6%.
