Study on the Aerodynamic Performance and Noise of Annular Impeller Axial Fans
To enhance the aerodynamic performance of axial fans and reduce their operational noise
inspired by the structure of annular propellers
this study proposes a novel annular impeller design for axial impellers used in fans
along with its parameter design process and methodology. By extracting the basic parameters of the prototype impeller profile and adjusting the basic shape of the impeller
the blade section is geometrically reconstructed. The design of the annular impeller is completed by
smoothly connecting the vortex ring structure at the blade tip. The influence mechanism of the annular impeller on the fan's aerodynamic performance and noise is studied using numerical simulation methods. The effectiveness of the design of the annular impeller axial fan is validated through experimental testing methods. Simulation results show that the use of the annular impeller improves the pressure distribution on the blade surface and the uniformity of the overall flow field velocity distribution
thereby enhancing the effective air delivery distance of the fan. Moreover
the vortex ring structure effectively suppresses the strength and diffusion range of the blade tip shedding vortex
reducing the turbulence intensity in the main flow area. Experimental results indicate that
compared to the prototype axial fan
under three operating conditions at the same rotational speed
the maximum airflow speed of the annular impeller fan increases while noise and power consumption decrease. Under the same noise condition
the maximum airflow speed of the annular impeller fan increases by 20.0 m·min
-1
with power consumption remaining relatively unchanged. When maintaining the same maximum airflow speed
the noise level of the annular impeller fan is reduced by up to 1.5 dB
with a maximum reduction in power consumption of approximately 13.9%.
