Study on Distribution Characteristics of Laser Energy in TC4 Powder in Selective Laser Melting Process
To study the effect of powder distribution on the energy absorption in the selective laser melting process
a heat source model with higher accuracy is proposed. In this paper
the distribution of powder particles is obtained by combing the method of steepest descent and univariate search technique
while the absorption of laser energy by the powder bed is counted according to the ray-tracing principle. This paper analyzes the effect of powder distribution on laser energy absorption and proposes a new heat source model considering the effect of powder according to the energy distribution characteristics. The results show that:the powder model constructed by the optimization method can avoid the error estimated by physical parameter and has only 4% error with the experimental results; The energy absorption tends to weaken in the depth direction and approximately satisfies the normal distribution in the horizontal direction. The heat source model constructed therefore is applied to the melt pool prediction
with the melt pool width error of 6.4% and the joint width error of 9.6%. The heat source model based on powder distribution proposed in this paper describes the energy distribution more accurately and improves the simulation accuracy of the temperature field
which can provide a reference for the further research of more accurate temperature field simulation technology.
