Study on the Performance of Seal Friction Pair of Deep-Sea Propeller under Periodic Fluctuation of Working Condition
Aiming at the wear failure phenomenon of mechanical seal for deep-sea propeller under periodic fluctuation
pseudo-real condition tests were carried out on the mechanical seal PV testing machine
and comparative tests of friction pairs of different materials under periodic fluctuation and fixed working condition were conducted to obtain the real-time friction coefficient
morphology evolution
surface wear and other data of the friction pairs. The test results show that the amplitude frequency of the SSiC-M106K pair's friction coefficient under periodic fluctuation is higher than that under constant condition
the surface roughness increases from 0.026 μm to 1.08 μm
and the resulting wear particles cause secondary wear on the surface of M106K material. On the other hand
among the friction pairs of three different materials
the friction coefficient of SSiC-WC pair under periodic fluctuation is the smallest and always keeps in the range from 0.012 to 0.027. SEM observation shows that the wear degree of the SSiC-WC friction pair with SSiC as the moving ring is low
and there is no ploughing effect
but there are obvious wear marks on the surface of SSiC-M106K pair
which is due to the transfer of abrasive on the graphite surface in the process of sliding contact. Therefore
the friction pair of SSiC-WC is more suitable for the service environment with periodic fluctuation of working condition.
