A new multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)transmission scheme termed differential spatial modulation with twofold antennas selection(TA-DSM)is proposed to solve the problem that the traditional differential spatial modulation(DSM)cannot achieve transmit diversity. In this scheme
one set of antenna activation matrices(AMs)is employed
from which a pair of AMs are respectively selected. Then the two selected AMs are combined with the first row and the second row of P Alamouti matrices
respectively
to generate the TA-DSM signal. Due to employing an extra AM
the proposed TA-DSM scheme delivers more bits
resulting in higher spectral efficiency than the existing typical DSM schemes
for example
the STBC-DSM scheme. In other words
TA-DSM can achieve better bit error performance than the existing typical DSM schemes when they are in the same spectral efficiency. Also
