mechanical properties and residual stress of the high boron alloy(Fe-2.0wt%B alloys)are investigated to obtain martensite matrix with better properties and avoid formation of excessive residual stress. The mechanical properties and residual stress of the alloy are regulated and analy-ed by applying different quenching methods. Results show that after heat treatment
the matrix is transformed from pearlite to martensite
which promotes the macro-hardness of the alloy from HRC 42.73 in as-cast condition to HRC 55.31 in air-quenched state and HRC 57.18 in oil-quenched state. The increase is 29.44% and 33.82%
respectively. Meanwhile
the residual stress in the alloy increases from -307.66 MPa in as-cast state to -407.35 MPa in air-quenched state and marco hardness -462.21 MPa in oil-quenched state. A comparison with the oil-quenched alloy shows that the air-quenched alloy has slight reduction in macro hardness
