Study on the Low-Temperature Air Loop Simulation System Based on Liquid Nitrogen Spray Technology
To examine the canopy fatigue during low-temperature flights
a small air loop canopy fatigue test-rig using liquid nitrogen spray cooling technology was designed and developed to investigate the effects of air speed and spray flow rate on the cooling rate of the system. In the experiment
as the liquid nitrogen spray flow rates were 37.2
42.4 and 49.3 kg/h and the air speeds were 2.21
4.53 and 6.77 m/s
the cooling performance of each test section was tested when the system temperature decreased from 21 ℃ to -30 ℃. The results show that the high flow rate enables the cooling rate to slow down and enhances the temperature uniformity under the same injection pressure and mass flow rate. As the flow rate is constant
with the cooling rate increasing
the temperature non-uniformity of each test face is obvious when the mass flow rate increases. The liquid nitrogen system can provide a low-temperature environment and a uniformed temperature field for simulation of canopy fatigue test. The present work could be a guidance for the design of low-temperature environment simulation and large-space liquid nitrogen cooling systems.
