To acquire the accuracy and feasibility of simulation method for automobile airbag
a curtain airbag FE model
including vehicle occupant safety system of side impact modeling
was established. The auto-meshing of folded curtain airbag was realized
and curtain airbag mesh among any type of tube cross section was generated following the topology mapping theory to make mesh nodes coordinate be transformed. Three kinds of methodology(pressure method of MADYMO
ALE gas method and particle method of Dyna)were compared by simulating airbag deployment of the folding model. The side impact analysis model with airbags was constructed by integrating the curtain airbag model
dummy
and body side contact surface. The comparison between calculation of three types of side impact conditions and tests indicates that the model of side impact simulation can accurately reflect human injury. The curtain airbag can more effectively protect passenger and facilitate early-stage design of automobiles.
