The interaction of erosion and corrosion on Fe-B alloy in flowing liquid zinc is investigated by rotating disk technique in order to design super corrosion resistant material. The results indicate that both the total erosion-corrosion rate and the pure corrosion rate decline with the test time. The total erosion-corrosion rate is far greater than the pure corrosion rate within same time
while the pure erosion rate changes slightly with test time. The liquid zinc's erosion action can accelerate the removal of corrosion products
and in turn the zinc's corrosion action facilitates erosion by forming loose corrosion layer
thus leading to a strong interaction of erosion and corrosion on the alloy in liquid zinc. The result also indicates that the early violent corrosion facilitates erosion. With the increase of e
rosion time
the interfacial corrosion becomes weak because of the barrier effect of Fe
2
B skeleton on liquid zinc diffusion
thus leading to a subdued interaction.
