Analysis on Geometric and Contact Characteristics of Tubular Meshing Tooth Surfaces for Conjugate-Curve Gears
Based on the existing research of conjugate-curve gears
geometric and contact characteristics analysis on a new type of conjugate tooth surface named tubular meshing tooth surface is carried out. Pressure angle of tubular meshing tooth surfaces is defined in terms of a space curve trihedron model
and the effects of this pressure angle on the tooth profile and contact strength are discussed. According to gear geometry
the non-undercutting conditions of tooth surfaces are discussed and the calculation methods of induced normal curvature and torsion are proposed. The theoretical descriptions for avoiding meshing and curvature interference are given. Considering the contact characteristics and the complexity of conventional methods
a new approach to the calculation of sliding ratio of conjugate-curve gear pair based on conjugate curves is provided. The conjugate successive property of tubular tooth surfaces is demonstrated
and the nature and rule of tooth surfaces meshing are revealed. The research results show that the tubular meshing tooth surfaces have good geometric and contact characteristics.
