To clarify the performance difference dependent on the water content of IPMCs with different fabrication process and electrodes
the relation between the static water content and steady-state humidity is determined firstly
and the dynamic change processes of water content then are tested by exchanging equilibrium with room temperature humidity in full wet state and full dry state respectively. The electro-mechanical response of Au-and Pd-based IPMC materials with different water content is characterized and converted to the response under different humidity environment. The experiments show that both deformation processes get similar with different water content and humidity
and the relaxation deformation appears for high water content and disappears for low water content. The water content of Au-IPMC is lower with different humidity than Pd-IPMC
and under RH 95%
Au-IPMC has better driving performance with deformation up to 17.4 mm.
