To enhance the reliability of solid dielectric insulation in complex engineering environments
the self-made polyimide(PI)sample in vacuum is taken as the object
and the DC surface flashover characteristics at different temperatures(193-353 K)are experimentally researched. It is found that the DC surface flashover voltage firstly decreases then increases and finally decreased again with the increasing of temperature. The DC flashover voltage reaches the maximum at 313 K and minimum at 273 K. the flashover voltages are significantly heightened in high temperature region(313-373 K)compared with that in lower temperature region(193-273 K). The experiments suggest that the electron emission near the cathode
charge transport of dielectric insulators and gas desorption are important to affect DC flashover voltage of PI in vacuum
and the gas desorption plays the key factor.
