Heliostat transmission system has low tracking accuracy and high accumulated error in the tower power generation system. A precise heliostat tracking machine is proposed
which includes independently developed backlash adjustable gears with variable tooth thickness transmission pair and dual gear precision transmission device. A coupling model of transmission error of height angle tracking mechanism is deduced geometrically. The distributing range of system transmission error is calculated with Monte-Carlo method by random sampling and extreme deviation. While the error randomness differs from the coupling relationship of error initial phases
the system transmission error is obviously distinct by contrasting different single sample results. The experiments of transmission error are conducted by high accuracy angle measuring instrument and the results fall in the effective range of simulations. The system transmission error can be controlled bellow 100″ to ensure the transmission error of heliostat transmission system to get less than 0.5 m/rad.
