Polyparap henylene (PPP) and Polyurethane (PU) were mixed sufficiently
and t he in2
fluence of PPP content in the PPP/ PU blends on t he mechanical and heat resistant performance
was investigated experimentally. The microst ruct ure of t he blends was characteri-ed wit h Fourier
t ransform inf rared spect roscopy
t hermogravimet ric analysis
and scanning elect ron microscope to
obtain t he knowledge of st ructure2property relationship . The result s show t hat PPP serves as-fi2
ber-to st rengt hen t he blend ; t he intermolecular interaction or compatibility between PPP and t he
hard segment of PU is revealed to a certain extent . The tensile st rengt h increases by 1213 % and
t he heat degradation temperat ure increases by 12 -for PPP at the mass ratio of 15 % to PU.
