A numerical study was performed for incompressible oscillating flow in a two2dimen2<br />sional channel
the so2called Womer sley flow
using lat tice2Bolt-mann met hod (LBM) . The pres2<br />sure gradient varies periodically. The major result s are as follows. When t he cycle is short
annu2<br />lar effect s exist in t he velocity profiles. The amplit udes of the velocity along t he centerline are<br />less t han t hose near t he wall
and the gradient s of t he velocity near t he wall are larger t han t ho se<br />in t he center region. However
when t he cycle is long t he velocity profiles are of parabolic type
<br />and the amplit udes of velocity along t he centerline are larger t han t hose near t he wall . The result s<br />of the velocity fields agree well wit h the analytical solution. The p hase difference between t he ve2<br />locity and temperat ure
