Study on Combustion Characteristics of a Direct Injection Diesel Engine Fueled with Fischer2Tropsch Diesel Fuel
On t he basis of t he recorded in2cylinder pressures and injector needle lif t s
the combus2 tion characteristics of an unmodified single2cylinder direct injection diesel engine operating on F2T diesel f uel are analy-ed and compared wit h t hose of conventional diesel f uel operation. The result s show t hat F2T diesel f uel exhibit s a slightly longer delay of injection and duration of injection
an 18. 7 % average shorter ignition delay
and a comparable total combustion duration when com2 pared to t hose of conventional diesel f uel . Meanwhile
F2T diesel f uel displays a 26. 8 % average lower peak value of p remixed burning rate and a higher peak value of diff usive burning rate. In addition
t he F2T diesel engine has a slightly lower peak combustion pressure
a far lower rate of pressure rise
and a lower mechanical load and combustion noise t han the conventional diesel en2 gine. The brake specific f uel consumption is lower and t he effective t hermal efficiency is hi
