In order to examine the influence of the thickness ratio of wire-screen over spacer on the effectiveness of a wall-type matrix heat exchanger
the wall and spacer heat resistances were adopted to improve the numerical computing method for the structure and thermal performance analysis of the wall-type matrix heat exchanger. The comparison with the conventional numerical computing method shows that the improved method can enhance the computation accuracy of the matrix heat exchanger and exhibit its structural features better. The performance analysis on the exchanger by the improved method indicates that the wire-screen thickness and the spacer thickness will influence the exchanger effectiveness significantly. In the case of the identical size
the matrix heat exchanger could obtain the optimum effectiveness when spacer thickness is 0.2 mm and the thickness ratio of wire-screen over spacer is 4:1.
