To improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of ZrO
2
ceramic die material
the effects of different particle size and content of Al
2
O
3
powders on the microstructure and mechanical properties of ZrO
2
-TiB
2
-Al
2
O
3
nanocomposite ceramic die materials were investigated. ZrO
2
nanocomposite ceramic die material was prepared with vacuum hot pressing technique at 1 450 ℃ for 1 h. under 30 MPa. The results show that the
highest flexural strength of ZrO
2
-TiB
2
-Al
2
O
3
nanocomposite ceramic die material reaches 743.49 MPa with 10%(volume fraction)Al
2
O
3
micrometer sized powders. The fracture toughness increased obviously along with the increase of Al
2
O
3
nanometer sized powders
and reached 11.37 MPa·m
1/2
. Vickers hardness did not change obviously with different Al
2
O
3
powders
while it greatly increased with the increases of Al
2
O
3
content.
