A hybrid-layer-divided beacon-driven leader based protocol(hybrid-layer-BLBP
HLBLBP)is proposed on the basis of forward error correction(FEC)to deal with the problem that the existing media access control(MAC)protocols in wireless mesh networks(WMNs)are less efficient. The proposed protocol bases on the wireless local area MAC-Layer layer-divided beacon-driven leader based protocol(Layer-BLBP). Since the proposed protocol employs the FEC technology and reduces the number of the control frames for multicast
the retransmission number is reduced and the ratio of the real data transmission cost in entire multicast stage is increased. The simulation results show that the proposed HLBLBP protocol effectively improves the overall performance of multicast in WMNs and increases the goodput rate more than 25% compared with Layer-BLBP.
