Selective laser sintering technique is adopted to sinter SiO
2
slurry by CO
2
laser on a home-made rapid prototyping machine. A three-dimensional green body of a complex-shaped ceramic nozzle is constructed by layer-additive technology. SEM and EDS are used to analyze the microstructure and composition of the green body. The results show that the silica powder can be sintered to form green part with a smallest layer thickness of 100 μm under optimal conditions for laser power of 7 W
a scanning speed of 160 mm/s
and a scanning resolution of 250 dpi. Therefore
the pure ceramic nozzle with good layer addition and without layer separation is fabricated
whose bending strength approaches the maximum.
