A vapor-liquid phase change model on the basis of the volume of fluid(VOF)method in FLUENT was proposed to solve the two-phase boiling or condensation problems. This model is suitable for the case where one is unsaturated phase and the other is saturated phase. In the model proposed here
the unsaturated-phase thermal conductivity and specific heat are actual physical parameters; the saturated-phase thermal conductivity is assumed to be zero and the saturated-phase specific heat is assumed to equal the unsaturated-phase specific heat; the interfacial mass-transfer rate is determined only by the unsaturated phase. In addition
our phase change model was verified by the analytical solutions of the one-dimensional Stefan problem and the accurate results of the two-dimensional boiling problem. The work will lay a foundation for the application of this model.
