In order to obtain gasoline engines with high efficiency
low-emission and high performance
a new gasoline direct injection(GDI)engine tumble combustion chamber was designed
and an experiment was conducted with the present combustion chamber on a 4G15 GDI engine. This tumble combustion chamber organizes the in-cylinder flow rationally by optimizing the shape of piston crown. The result of computational fluid dynamics(CFD)analysis indicates that the combustion chamber structure could result in perfect in-cylinder tumble intensity
even without the vertical straight intake port. The test results show that the lean combustion limit of the 4G15 GDI engine can reach 25-27. The most efficient air-fuel ratio range is 17-19 and in this range
and the engine fuel consumption decreases by 10% compared with the original engine. In the case of stoichiometric ratio
