The special configuration and characteristic of the cryogenic plate-fin heat exchangers with double phase changes are introduced.The researches for investigating the influence of the inlet structure of the heat exchanger for two-phase flow on vapor-liquid maldistribution are reviewed.The disadvantage of the traditional vapor-liquid distribution method is pointed out
in which the mixing of vapor-liquid is earlier than the distribution.Because the single-phase fluid is easier distributed uniformly
the new method and the new structure in which the distribution is earlier than the mixing were proposed. Using the new method and the new structure to manufacture the cold box of large ethylene plant
the heat transfer temperature difference in cold end of the heat exchanger was
reduced to 3 K. The large condenser evaporator in oxygen plant in Baoshan Iron-Steel Company was also manufactured by using the new method.Its heat transfer coefficient reached 925.1 W/(m
2
·K)which was increased by 48.97% compared with the most advanced level in the world. The performance of the products is superior to the products home and abroad.
