A new solution for the protection of fingerprint information is proposed
in which fingerprint feature information is embedded into 2D bar code to prevent fingerprint information from being attacked. The direction and frequency information of the fingerprint image is utilized to ascertain the threshold of the binarization
and PDF 417 encoding is adopted for preprocessing and selecting the feature from fingerprint image
then the result of the extraction is embedded into 2D bar. When authentication is needed
the 2D bar is read and decoded to extract the saved fingerprint feature information
and then the aim of authentication and discrimination is approached. The experiment results show that the method can enhance effectively the security of the fingerprint feature information
likewise the efficiency of identification and authentication is higher
and also it is feasible for long range secure transmission and high speed type-in
