the numerical simulation was carried out to investigate the flow fields and losses in stationary part of an axial flow fan. By studying the variations of the flow fields and losses of the stationary components at isolated conditions and in the fan's assembly
it is found that the losses in the collector is large
and its efficiency is almost the same as the diffuser's
therefore its losses should be taken into account in the design. Secondly
the losses of the diffuser and diffusing tower increase in the fan's assembly compared with those at isolated condition
which means that the interference between them is strong and leads to worse flow fields. Finally
the flow fields at the exit of the diffusing tower are very uneven
and there exists a large area of low velocity
leading to a decrease of the static efficiency of the fan. An improvement should be made.
