In order to improve the hydrogen production from potatoes
the bacteria substrate was improved to domesticate H

a lag-phase time(about 12 h)vanished
the maximum specific hydrogen production rate increased from 703.4 mL/(g·d)to 800.5 mL/(g·d)and the maximum hydrogen yield increased from 205.2 mL/g to 218.2 mL/g. When potatoes were pretreated by a amylase and glucoamylase
the hydrogen production was further enhanced. The maximum specific hydrogen production rate was then increased to 944.7 mL/(g·d
)and the maximum hydrogen yield was increased to 267.2 mL/g. It is found that the hydrogen composition of the biogas is about 43%~69% and no methane is detected.
