A V-type integral Stirling-cycle refrigerator(VISR)was developed
which consists of an expansion cylinder
a compression cylinder and a regenerator. The expansion piston and the compression piston are V-shaped and driven by a crank-connecting rod mechanism. A cold head is connected to the expansion cylinder and provides cooling capacity. The results show that the regenerator must match the configuration and dimension of the compression and expansion cylinders and the cooler. Among the three regenerators tested
the regenerator with a length of 60 mm and a diameter of 50 mm has optimal cooling capacity. Its optimal charge pressure is 1 MPa for nitrogen and 1.3 MPa for helium
respectively. In addition
the COP of the refrigerator has a peak value in the range of 500-700 r/min for nitrogen and in the range of 800-1 000 r/min for helium.
