The blind source separation method based on independent component analysis was adopted to the separation of spark ion current signals measured to reduce the ignition interference by the spark discharge. The spark ion current signals measured were analyzed with this method and the ion current signals without ignition interference and the spark discharge signals were extracted. The blind source separation of the ion current signals measured was performed at the fixed engine speed and different exhaust gas recirculation(EGR)rate. The results show that one peak in front-flame near the top dead centre(TDC)and one peak in post-flame near the peak pressure occurred. Both the two peaks of the ion current signals will decrease and the peak time will be postponed
and the ion current will be interfered much stronger with the increase in EGR rate.
