a novel equivalent instantaneous impedance based bus-bar protection is proposed. An inductance model is developed when the internal fault occurs on the bus. Identifying the parameters of the model and analyzing the defined characteristic of the equivalent instantaneous impedance
two practical bus-bar protection criterions are put forward for distinguishing the internal fault from the external fault correctly. Compared with the traditional bus-bar protections
the current transformer saturation detection unit gets unnecessary for bus-bar protection
and the thresholds of the criterions are easy to set with high sensitivity. The new principle is suitable for non-periodic component
fundamental component and harmonic component. EMTP simulation shows the high sensitivity and reliability.
