Aiming the traditional precise integration method with big error in calculating transient signal and dissipated iteration
a new difference scheme improving the stability of algorithm and enhancing the analysis ability to the transient signal is proposed to achieve transmission line fault location based on transient signals by constructing a distance function. To apply the scheme to the double-side asynchronous data
an algorithm is adopted to calculate the two-terminal asynchronous time difference and length of transmission line based on the pre-fault recorded signal
and to calculate the fault location for three-phase transmission line. The simulation results show that the higher measurement accuracy without affecting by the fault transition resistance is achieved
the absolute error for fault location gets lower than 0.6 km
