The thermodynamic properties of normal hydrogen are required to simulate the hydrogen system in the study on hydrogen economy. In this research
the equation of state for normal hydrogen was developed on the basis of a large collection of the experimental thermodynamic property data using the simplex method. Comparisons of values calculated using the equation of state with the experimental data show that the deviations in density
the second virial coefficient
and the third virial coefficient are within ±0.05%
±1.0 cm
3
·mol
-1
and ±1.0 cm

-2
respectively. The valid range of the equation is from 50 to 700 K
with the pressure up to 300 MPa
and the uncertainty in density of the equation is estimated to be 0.05%. The equation developed should be useful in engineering application.
