In order to improve the efficiency of traditional particle level set method and to provide an effective way to solve complex engineering problems
an efficient particle level set method is presented by combining the integral average and the modified particle initialization technology for the accurate capturing of interfaces. The addition of particles to the level set method removes the difficulties from the numerical diffusion
and alleviates the need for computationally expensive high order accurate schemes. The integral average enables to evolve the level set function and to distribute particles into the regions with large curvature. The numerical results show that the improved numerical method retains good robustness; the accuracy of captured interface gets nearly second order; and the computational efficiency is enhanced by 90%.
