To improve the mechanical output ability of the ultrasonic motor
a double-foot linear ultrasonic motor with longitudinal vibration transducer is designed and fabricated. The proposed motor contains two vertical transducers and one horizontal transducer
and the horn on the horizontal transducer intersects with the side surface of the horn on the vertical transducer by its tip end
which are processed as a monoblock of duralumin alloy. The working principle of the motor is introduced
FEM is adopted to accomplish the design and simulation
and the resonance frequencies of the two vibration modes of the motor are tuned to get close to each other. The vibration characteristics of the prototype are tested by a scanning laser Doppler vibrometer and well coincide with the FEM analysis
and the maximum no-load speed attains to 602 mm/s and maximum thrust force to 32 N.
