The relations of charging time with ignition energy
premixed laminar burning velocity
and combustion characteristics
such as pressure and heat release rate
of the natural gas-air premixed mixture were studied by changing the ignition coil charging time. The results show that the ignition energy increases almost linearly with the increase in the coil charging time. The ignition energy increases slowly when the charging time increases to 6 ms. The flame initiation and the early development are accelerated because of the increase in ignition energy but ignition energy has no effect on the flame propagation speed after the nuclear radius increases to 8 mm. The peak combustion pressure increases and occurs earlier when charging time increases. When the charging time rises from 2 ms to 8 ms
the maximum peak pressure increases by 3.8% and occurs 8.6 ms in advance
and the flame development period and the rapid combustion period decrease by 5.2 ms and 1.7 ms
respectively.
