A liquid and gaseous density equation with six parameters for dimethyl ether was developed by the quasi-Newton optimization algorithm on the basis of extensive collection of PVT experimental data. The new density equation is suitable for the conditions of the temperatures from the triple point to the critical point and the pressure up to 70 MPa. The comparison between the predictions and the experimental data shows that the average absolute deviations of the density equation are from 0.1% in the low temperature region to 1% near the critical point for gaseous dimethyl ether while they are from 0.1% in the low temperature region to 3% near the critical point for liquid dimethyl ether.
